Made in Sheffield in the 1930s, this lovely item is a vintage leather and brass Chesterman Treble Clef tape measure. It is 50ft long and the measurements on the cloth tape are in inches/feet. It measures just 10.5cm wide, which is smaller than most Chesterman measures of this period. The original owner was ‘A & Co’ and their company name is marked on each side.
The tape has been extended to its full length and rewinds smoothly back into its case. It would make an excellent prop; addition to a collection or home decor item. The case has some minor scuffs and the tape has signs of use, but these add retro charm!
The same model is on display within the tool collection in the UK’s Science Museum.
